Lubiprostone constipation treatment

Prescription laxatives like Lubiprostone constipation treatment may be indicated if constipation is serious enough to warrant such treatment. Lubiprostone acts by increasing the fluid content of the stool as well as by increasing intestinal secretions. These actions of the drug result in the stool being passed from the colon easily and quickly. None of these treatments will be effective in curing constipation if the underlying cause, like anismus or irritable bowel syndrome, is not treated. In extreme cases, where every other remedy had failed, surgery to remove a part of the colon may be indicated.
